The KDLINKS X1 is one of the most popular dash cameras available. In this review, I will examine the dashboard camera so you can decide whether or not it’s worth your money.
By the end of this review, you should have enough information for you to know if you want to buy.
Design & Hardware
The kdlinks x1 dashboard camera is small, and it should fit neatly and discreetly in any car. Its black casing means that it shouldn’t stick out and it won’t be easily noticed by people who you don’t want to see it.
GPS Suction Cup Mount: The GPS Suction Cup Mount means that all of your recorded footage will automatically link to the location that is recorded in, without the need to connect your device to a separate GPS device.
Other dash-cams need to will separately will connect to a GPS, which causes hassle and can lead to cables trailing across your car. This GPS suction mount means you can always rely on your Dash Cam footage to determine your location.
However, It is worth remembering that the GPS won’t automatically set the time on your camera. If you want a time-stamp on your footage, then you will need to set the time yourself.
That could be a problem if you need to prove when footage will record, as a timestamp which you set yourself may carry less weight in a court of law.
Windows & Mac GPS video data player software with Google Maps Route Animation: With this feature, you can use your Windows or Mac computer to check information about your car’s journeys. You can find out where your car currently is, or trace the routes that your vehicle has already been on it.
You can also find out information about your vehicle’s speed. With this data, if your car has stolen or if you need evidence of your vehicle’s previous activities, then you have everything you need on your computer.
HD quality video(1920×1080) for day and night use: From my experience, I have found that the image quality is excellent, though it does suffer from a couple of issues.
The image overexposed during the day, so all the footage is too bright, and it looks washed-out.
At night, there is a small but noticeable dip in quality.
However, the important thing to remember with a dash cam is that you are not looking for a camera to record movies. You just want a good enough video quality to ensure that you can pick up on the important details.
The only problem you might face with this camera is reading car license plates if the vehicle in question is too far away or moving too much.
This issue is common in all dash cams, and not unique to this one, so it’s a reason not to buy. The important thing is that you will get a good HD camera which should do almost everything you need it.
If you were looking for better quality footage from a dash cam, then you would have to pay a lot more money for a small increase in definition. Unless it’s imperative to you, it’s probably not worth spending the extra money.
Quick-Response support team: All accounts suggest that the customer support team at KDLINKS is beneficial. If you have any problems with the product, then you can contact them via email, and they will respond within 24 hours. No complaints here.
